The sculpture, “Big Bunny Girl” was designed for the Eugene Ballet Academy, the educational branch of Oregon’s renown Eugene Ballet.
Play and imagination are cornerstones of a child’s development and becoming a ballerina is the stuff of many a young dancer’s dreams. Such dreams can plant the seed for a profession or foster a lifetime of appreciation for the dance. I hoped to suggest the magic of imagination and its close relationship with the mysterious and beautiful narrative power of the ballet.
The young dancer stands on a spiraling dome with raised lettering reading, “and it was made so … Dancing, they were lifted, carried by the wind of dreams”.
